Genius Hour, Passion Project, 20 percent time...whatever you call it it's about the Love of Learning. At Piedmont we call it LOL and it happens every spring.
For the 4th year in a row, 6th graders showcased the information and skills they gleaned from their 6th block independent study time to their classmates, families, and teachers and once again we were amazed at the talent, dedication, creativity and diversity of interests of our class. Thank you to the sixth grade teachers who each year braves the messiness that comes with student-driven learning. Thank you to the sixth grade students who shared with open arms just a little of what they love. You can tell it was all worth it when you see the proud and happy smiles in this video.

This week 7th grade once again hosted another proud Piedmont tradition: the Culture Cluster. Each team sets up displays of their own culture writings and shares with each other and the community. Thank you for watching and learning about each other and what makes us great.
This year, Piedmont staff have made a concerted effort to care for ourselves and each other. The faculty can take advantage of Marble Mondays (paper marbling taught by Mr. McGill, Tabata Tuesdays with Mr Cherry, and Smoothie Fridays with the health club. From Mr. Cherry's bow tie fashion inspiration to students to Mr. Reddig's mentor inspiration for staff, to all the weekly club offerings where teachers share their knowledge of everything from nutrition to yoga to ballroom dancing to embroidery, there's something to nourish everyone's mind, soul, and spirit.
Thanks, Piedmont, for taking care of each other. We really are a community of learners. It's amazing to watch you support and help each other. IB Learners are Globally Minded and CompassionateVia Ms. Lugo and World Language
Due to the current natural disasters in Puerto Rico and Mexico, we are trying to help collect supplies to assist in relief. We are planning on collecting until Friday October 6th. Donations can be brought to boxes that will be set up in all the World Language classrooms or in the main lobby. |
