Piedmont Pirates Love The Panthers

Panthers are pounding and Piedmont is pumped!

When we declared today Panther Pride day, even the sky took note and colored itself in Panthers shades, making for a beautiful view of the Charlotte City Skyline.

Everyone climbed up to the rooftop before school to capture this shot, even the cafeteria workers took a moment out from serving breakfast to rep for our hometown team.

Here are the staff photo contest entries and a few outtakes and bloopers. Thanks to Mr. Reddig for organizing everyone for a fun event together. Note that from the looks of these photos Mr. Joyce really might be Superman.

Having a ball in medIa MakerSpace

Students are having a ball in Piedmont's Media Center MakerSpace lately, and not just because of our new stop motion studio.

I mean they've literally been having a ball-bouncing and levitating due to new yoga ball bouncy seats and as an additional Mindflex levitating ball game.

students watch as their friend in stripes levitates a ball through an obstacle course they built. It's not magic, the ball is lifted by a fan run by the power of her brainwaves.

A prospective Piedmont student makes himself at home using our new yoga ball as an ottoman while he reads during Open House.

Minecraft is always better if you can bounce when something exciting happens!

Stop Motion Studio Makes a Splash

Check out our brand new Stop Motion Video studio in action.

Thanks to Mrs. Newburger and the PTSA for making it possible.

"I only work in black. Or very dark gray."

-Batman creates a prop for the group's video.

Gabe (who's had stop-motion training and it shows) made this Lego stop motion video in fewer than 20 minutes, rushing down to the cafeteria for lunch so he could get back up to the MakerSpace and create.

Check it out. We might see him at the Oscars one day!

Students are collaborating on a number of projects and the process is almost as fun to watch as to create.

This shows the creative process of one student just getting started - first time at the studio and he created this in just one lunch period.
