Instructional Technology is offering a wonderful opportunity to become certified Google Educators. By participating in this course, CMS will provide learning through the PD session AND pay for the Google quizzes that are required for the certification.

You can locate the course sections on MyTalent. There is an October session (full) and November session (almost full). There will be additional courses in the spring. The courses meet on Saturdays. For additional information, contact Donna Jessup (donna.jessup) or Jacob Standish (Jacob.standish)

MyTalent Information:

To complete the district assignment assigned to all CMS teachers:
  • Open Firefox or Chrome (do not use Explorer or a Mac)
    Go to http://www.atomiclearning.com/k12?p_id=mytraining
  • Click the My Training Tab if it is not open already
  • Click Assesssments
  • Click the test you see (ours is named 21CA Piedmont and take that test.  Allow 30-40 minutes.)
  • Submit when complete*
*If you need to come back to the test it will save where you left off but you CANNOT go back to change answers.

The AL site seems to be overloaded so don't panic if you get a freeze even in Chrome or Firefox. It will be saved. If you  accidentally did it in Explorer (if you clicked the link straight from the AL notification email it may have opened straight into Explorer) switch browsers  and all will be fine.

You will know  you are done when it shows you your scores. AL will email you a link to training videos based on your scores within 24 hours or so of taking the test.  I have watched the videos and can discuss them with you and talk about adaptations you may wish to try since the videos were made (pre iPad, less Ning, more Twitter, smartphone, instagram, backchannel, etc).

Here is a walk-through of what you will see logging in if needed:
Click here for directiions and password  (CMS employees only- you must be signed in to Drive to read it) The password is written on the board in the media center or see Lisa Gurthie)
